The Association of Community Pharmacotherapeutics (ACP) is an academic and service-oriented organisation affiliated with the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. ACP was founded with a clear philosophy:

We have the Association of Community Pharmacotherapeutics (ACP). The basic aims and objectives are slightly different from those of other scientific bodies. It's community-oriented and focuses services on the real, dear, and desired ones residing far away from urban areas, deprived of medical facilities, and overloaded with malpractices by quacks, living with myths. In urban areas, the focus is on slums rather than well fed rather over fed and with affordability for any treatment at any cost. This Association is to make the masses aware of rational therapeutics, safe use of medications and timely use of vaccination, avoiding getting trapped by quacks.

Myth of the Month
Myth: Injections work faster and are always better than tablets.
Fact: Many medicines work equally well—or better—when taken orally. Unnecessary injections increase the risk of infections, pain, and complications.
Drug Safety Tip of the Week
Avoid taking calcium and iron tablets together
Explanation: Calcium interferes with the absorption of iron in the intestine. When both medicines are taken at the same time, the body absorbs less iron, making the treatment less effective—especially in people with anemia
✔ Take iron tablets on an empty stomach or with vitamin C–rich foods (like lemon or orange).
✔Take calcium tablets at least 2 hours before or after iron.
✖ Do not take both medicines together unless advised by a doctor.

Unlike conventional organizations that mainly focus on conferences and publications, ACP prioritizes community service, public education, and real-world impact, particularly in rural areas and urban slums.
Anyone with a recognized medical degree can apply for ACP membership, subject to eligibility criteria under different membership categories.
Life Membership (₹2000): MD / PhD in Pharmacology; lifetime validity with voting rights.
Associate Membership (₹1000): Medical degree holders other than MD/PhD Pharmacology; all benefits except voting rights.
Annual Membership (₹500): Any medical degree holder; valid for one year; no voting rights.
Members gain opportunities to participate in community outreach programs, academic and public health initiatives, awareness campaigns, conferences, and collaborative activities aimed at social impact.
No. ACP works both in rural areas and urban slums, targeting populations deprived of proper medical facilities and vulnerable to misinformation and quack practices.
No. ACP strictly advocates rational, ethical, and evidence-based therapeutics and does not promote any commercial pharmaceutical interests.
